Top Reasons Regular Air Conditioner Maintenance Should Not Be Ignored

Air conditioning units work to filter and cool the air inside a room or building ensuring you have fresh, cool, and clean air throughout the day. However, if the unit accumulates dusts and debris, it is most likely to stop working efficiently or possibly, breakdown completely.

Preventative maintenance of air conditioning units is very crucial in ensuring your unit continues to work as it should and it should be done at least once a year, with the exception that changing of the filters should be made every 1 to 3 months.

Benefits Of Regular Maintenance For Your Air Conditioning Units

Improve Efficiency

Regular maintenance improves efficiency and reduces your electric bill. A clogged air filter will allow dirt into the evaporator coil and impair its ability to absorb heat effectively.

This means that the coil will need to work overtime in cooling and cleaning the air which pulls in more electricity thus raising your bills. The filter must be replaced at least every month or so.

Also, have a professional clean the evaporator and condenser coils annually.

Save on Repair and Replacement Costs

Regular maintenance mostly serves as a preventative measure to protect your AC from breaking down or failing. With regular maintenance, the technician will also be able to identify problems like clogging or leaks early before it’s too late.

Once an AC unit breaks down completely, it might be hard to get it to work again efficiently which will force you to invest on a new one. Regular maintenance will prevent such a catastrophe considering that HVAC units are not cheap to buy and fast to install.

Extend Unit Lifespan

Annual cleaning and maintenance of the AC unit ensures that everything is working in the right manner and hence there will be no malfunctions.

A coil that always overwork will not just run your electricity consumption but also makes itself more prone to wear and tear which can as well mess everything else up in the unit.

Maintain Reliability

You may find few worse things than a failing air conditioning unit in the middle of summer. Getting a professional give your unit a thorough service just before summer starts is the only way to ensure you will not have an AC that brings you problems.

The technician should be able to perform any necessary cleaning and repairs before the incoming period of constant cooling usage to allow you to have a reliable unit all summer long.

Reduce Allergens

Unfortunately, an air conditioner puts out what is inside it and if the unit is full of dirt, you will definitely inhale dusty elements and smelly air circulating your house.

Cleaning your AC unit regularly will ensure that only clean and fresh air is being circulated around. People who are allergic to dust and the odor-causing bacteria does not have to suffer.

We cannot emphasize enough the importance of regular maintenance of air conditioning units in every home. However, unless you are a trained technician, it’s always good to hire a professional to do the service for you to avoid doing more harm than good.

Though it may seem expensive to hire a technician every single year, the expense will not be much more compared to the need to keep replacing or repairing your HVAC unit.

Thank you so much for elaborating on why AC units should be maintained to reduce allergens and musky smells. This is probably the reason why my sister has been complaining about coughs and sneezes more often as she has had to turn the AC on a lot more because of the heat. It’s possible that her AC hasn’t been cleaned out recently, so I’ll help her find an HVAC contractor that can help her get that fixed.
